Webinar: “How to Survive Caregiving with Sanity and a Sense of Humor”

Wednesday, November 20 at 12:00pm

Join us for a lively webinar conversation with Trinity alumnus Jim Comer ’66, author of When Roles Reverse: A Guide to Parenting Your Parents. Many alumni are faced with caring for their parents and dealing with complex issues of health, finances and end of life decisions. Comer will share his struggles, joys and growth over 14 years of helping to care for his parents. This webinar will help families plan ahead and be better prepared to handle the physical and emotional minefield of caregiving. Some of the topics the webinar will cover include:

  • Overcoming denial by finding out what your parents want and don’t want as they age.
  • Getting the legal documents every family needs: where there is a will there is a way
  • Understanding that showing up for your parents – however imperfectly – is the key to becoming a good caregiver.

Jim Comer, who is a speech coach, author, and keynote speaker, will be interviewed by his classmate and fellow caregiver Barbara Anne Stephens ’66. Barbara Anne cared for her own father for almost ten years and knew Jim’s parents going back to the early 60’s.
