Since it's founding by Congress in 1980, the National Building Museum has inspired visitors through engaging exhibitions and programs that explore the powerful impact of architecture, engineering, construction, landscape architecture, planning, and design on our everyday lives and communities. Housed within the magnificent historic Pension Building, the museum features one of Washington's most breathtaking interior spaces-the soaring Great Hall with its towering Corinthian columns, as well as a remarkable 1,200 foot terra cotta frieze wrapping the building exterior.
