Jan and Tom Tinker Memorial Lecture
What is Knowledge? A conversation between Trinity alumni Simran Singh (’06, Ph. D.) and Dave Levy (‘05, M. D.).
The purpose of the Jan and Tom Tinker Memorial Lecture on Science and the Humanities is to support speakers for a campus visit and a campus-wide lecture at the intersection of science and the humanities, contributing to an interdisciplinary educational student experience.
Academic Affairs will host this conversation at the intersection of the medical sciences and humanities. Titled “What is Knowledge?”, this discussion emphasizes how a Trinity University education has influenced the speakers’ knowledge and their intellectual and cultural humility. Dave Levy is a pediatrician living in Omaha, Nebraska, who directs health projects in Nepal. Simran Singh is Assistant Professor of Interreligious Histories at Union Seminary and author of The Light we Give: How Sikh Wisdom Can Transform Your Life. Simran and Dave were roommates as students and they have maintained a close friendship since graduating. This conversation will be moderated by Angela Breidenstein, Ed. D. (‘91, ‘92), Chair of the Department of Education and Professor of Education.
Reception will follow in the Chapman Lobby.
The Jan and Tom Tinker Memorial Lecture is made possible by Dr. Scott W. Tinker ‘82 and Dr. Mark Tinker ‘91.
