Stieren Arts Enrichment Series: A Masterclass by the New Century Saxophone Quartet

Saturday, February 2 at 1:00pm to 3:00pm

As part of their Stieren Arts Enrichment Series Residency, the New Century Saxophone Quartet presents a masterclass in the Ruth Taylor Recital Hall at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019. The masterclass will feature both Trinity University students as well as members of the San Antonio community, and is free and open to the public.

The quartet closes out its residency on Sunday, February 3, with a free concert in the Recital Hall at 3 p.m.

The New Century Saxophone Quartet is a pioneering and versatile group that is winning newfound enthusiasm for its art form. New Century has been heard in major concert venues in Los Angeles, New York, and Amsterdam; on radio and television in the United States, Europe, and Central America; in recordings for the Channel Classics label; and in unusual performance settings, ranging from two command performances for President Bill Clinton in the White House to a concerto performance with the United States Navy Band. The group has been praised for its “virtuosic display of dexterity and keen ensemble work,” in which the “players handled all the music with panache” (New York Post).
