***THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED***
Sol LeWitt (b.1928, Hartford, CT; d. 2007, New York) was a leading figure of Minimalism and pioneer of Conceptual art. Redefining art production by exploring ideas rather than conventional aesthetics, he distilled art to its essentials. Using the cube as a “grammatical device,” LeWitt’s work is characterized by serialization, repetition, and progression, exemplified by his iconic open-grid structures. LeWitt’s wall drawings are executed directly on the wall, using predetermined line-making procedures set out by the artist. Led by a master draftsman from the LeWitt Foundation, Trinity students will create one of LeWitt’s iconic wall drawings in the Michael and Noemi Neidorff Gallery. The Stieren Arts Enrichment Series is made possible by Jane and the late Arthur Stieren. This event is free and open to the public.
