Nicola Denzey Lewis, Ph.D., is the Margo L. Goldsmith Chair in Women’s Studies in Religion as well as Chair of the Religion Department at Claremont Graduate University. Her research Her research follows two separate but, at times, interrelated tracks: the study of Gnosticism from the second to the fourth century—a key period of Christianization—and the social history of ordinary citizens, particularly women, in the Roman Empire from the High Empire to Late Antiquity periods.
In this talk Prof Denzey Lewis will explore how the many Christian texts discovered in Egypt over the last century expand our understanding of early Christianity.
The talk is free and open to the public.
