About this Event
The Neidorff Art Gallery presents Duncan Ganley: Inventory of Empty Streets on view November 3 – December 10, 2022. The artist will be present for the opening reception Thursday, November 3 from 4-6pm.
Inventory of Empty Streets is a photographic project that documents every street inside central London’s Congestion Charge Zone during the UK’s first COVID-19 lock-down in the spring of 2020.
Each photograph, shot identically, presents a view of a cityscape void of people, cars and congestion, capturing the shuttered retail and entertainment hub of London’s West End, the unpopulated residential roads north and south of the River Thames, and the eerily empty global financial center of the City of London.
With approximately 3000 images and accompanying GPS and tracking metadata, Inventory of Empty Streets is a unique visual record of a city under extraordinary circumstances. This exhibition will include select photographs, a long-form moving image projection, and twelve volumes of artist’s books.
Duncan Ganley is an artist/filmmaker based in London. His films and photographic work are shown internationally.
